Date: Mon, 13 Aug 2001 09:05:20 -0700 (PDT) Hi Clark, Here are excerpts from Dan's e-mails (9 Aug 01) on the HNAS project: "...you and Clark Barrett were nominated in absentia to organize the fall and spring HNAS meetings under Alan Fiske's guidance. If I recall correctly, we worked out that there would only be time for 3 or 4 presentations... " "Ideas: Alan is working on some emotion stuff, but he's already asked to do a BEC on it, so that would be partially redundant. However, he has also been doing some brain imaging stuff that he's excited about. Carlos (my grad student) has been tackling Terror Management Theory; he gave a talk on preliminary results at HBES, but I think most HNAS folks didn't attend, so that's a plausible topic. I typically avoid tooting my own horn around here (I did the very first BEC 3 years ago, and haven't done one since), but Carlos & I have been doing some work on incest that I'm sure will be of central interest to John & Leda and their student Deb Lieberman, and will likely grab other folks too. We are almost ready to submit the first article for publication, and are planning three follow-up experiments, so we should have plenty to talk about by November. Rob Kurzbahn has been working on a new paper on stigma w/ Jim Sidanius, so that's a possibility, but it may already be familiar to the SB crowd. I know Martie has been planning new stuff, but I don't know if she's done any yet; even so, if folks at SB aren't familiar with her work, it might be good to introduce it. Neil had a paper out last year on porn & aggression that, as far as I know, he hasn't talked about at all, so that's a possibility too."
